New win11 update messed with mafia

So the latest win11 update managed to trigger bitlocker, which was its own hassle, but now upon trying to load mafia, I get the error:
Unable to invoke PK<chain of non-letters>meta-inf/manifest.mf <chain of non-letters>
If I hit login anyway, the error changes to:
Server www.kingdomofloathing.com returned a blank page from login.php complain to Jick, not us.
The website works fine. I tried updating java, mafia, restarting, nothing.
 
Okay, I managed to fix it. For anyone else having this issue, or future-me:
Uninstall all java.
Restart.
Reinstall java from https://adoptium.net/ (version 25 is working)
Restart.
Download the latest mafia .jar, into a kol folder that isn't on the desktop.
Right click .jar, properties, open with openjdk as default.
Restart.
Now you can double click on the .jar to run mafia.
Restart. (just for fun)

This is the cause of many known Windows problems.

The preferred option is to create the KoL folder in a directory that is not protected (Desktop, Program Files, etc.) and that the Windows user running KoLmafia has full read and write permissions. Bitlocker was a bit of a red herring because I don't know which directories it normally interacts with. Glad you figured it out.
